batteries
« on: May 18, 2005, 01:32:27 PM »
I saw some lawnmower batteries at Lowes. Are these deep cycle or not. they come in two different cca's and run from 28.00 to about 36.oo. Can I use these to store power from my solar panels? Also couldn't find voltage on them.

By definition, a "starting" or "starter" battery is designed to supply large amounts of current for relatively brief periods of time. The CCA is "cold crank amps". A deep cyle battery is designed to supply small amounts of current for relatively long periods of time.

To answer your question: yes, you could use them to store power. BUT, there are much better choices.
