Electrical items
« on: June 11, 2006, 03:06:00 AM »
Our local Church had a fle market today and i grabbed this box of electrical items for a whole $3.00, the elements I hope to be able to use for dump loads and conector bars always come in handy but the battery vitalizer is something I have not seen before and would like to know what it use was for so if anybody can help there that would be great.

The photo flash reflexion does not allow to read the info.

The guts seem to be just a charger with lamp as the resistance to limit the charging current.

Though, I maybe wrong, as often as often happens.

It is OLD, I saw them 30 years ago, and HATE them because no voltage limit and its low charging current capability.

The was another one, but I do not recall if the one you have, was used as a poor "re-juvenator" not very effective but the name sold thousands of them.

I can not see the diodes if any, if no diodes, it is a very poor "re-juvenator"

The resistor heaters are good for a high ( 50 - 115 volts ) volts load .

Those three big white disks with the coiled wire in them are from old sealed top electric ranges, I recognize them as such. I don't know about the rest but I value those things as basically worthless, unless you can use them for a dump load or something. They're ratd at 240VAC, probably 5-10A if it helps any.

The battery vitalizer is not  a battery charger. It is for cold weather climates. On cold nights it exercises the battery by light loading and charging. This is so when you hit the key in the morning you have more Amps available. Turning on headlights for 20 seconds before cranking achieves about the same effect.

The conical heater elements are for what we used to call 'Sun Bowl" heaters. These were a metal parabolic dish about 24" across with the element in the center.

the red and black wires on the vitalizer are probably from the rectifier

Those 4 things in front of the battery vitalizer look like Daleks from Dr. Who!
