Battery Question
« on: December 20, 2006, 02:56:53 PM »
Hi all

I've picked up a set of used batteries from a fork lift truck. Not perfect but they are what I've got. There are 25 2V cells which are branded Chloride and the cases measure 155 x 155x 450mm. They have light blue tops and black cases and seem to hold their charge well in no load conditions. They were all load tested by the guy I bought them from and most had a finish voltage after load test of around 1.85 with one or 2 down to 1.69 or 1.71. He told me the test he did but I've lost the notes other than the hand written labels on each cell that he wrote, showing each cells finish voltage after the load test. I'm planning to connect them as a 48V syestem ie 24 cells. My questions are is it worth adding the last battery as they are old? Any ideas on their capacity (ie what to set the Ah meter to) would also be appreciated.

Cheers

Chris

I hope those dimensions are really in 'cm', not 'mm'.  Otherwise you got a bunch of cell phone batteries!

I think they are zinc chloride batteries.  Do a search, good luck!

155 x 155 x 450 mm sounds right for a forklift battery cell, ie roughly 6" x 6" x 18"
