Having seen lots of 'interesting' statements about batteries, I decided to ask a colleague who designs chargers for a living. His recommendations are:


Batteries in a Portable World


and


Handbook of Batteries


The former is available online for free, the latter is the definitive book on the matter - worth a visit to your local library and a good long hard read...

The Home Power article is a great start to understanding how lead acid batteries should be used in a residential power system.

Just done a search on the Home Power web site and nothing older than 1999 is returned. Do you have a direct URL for the article you quote?
