D8 Batterys

Hello

   Any one have any info of D8 Battery 12 volt.

I have just got a hold of 2 D8's for an Okay price but have no idea what the CCA or Ah.s are. Is there any way to find out?


   There are know Labels or markings on them just D8 on the side.

I do know any are very heavy Any info please let me know i Checked the Voltage and they are both at 12.8 volts and they have been sitting for a week so i am told.

I use D8 in my 40' bus,It takes two of them to get her started. mine are CCa-1100, and CA@ 32 deg=1340. hope this helps. they are for heavy commercial use.

  Is that 1340 Ah on one Battery or on Both. If that is something like i have i will be Happy as PooP. The man got them from has two more. Thanks

   O know sorry thats Ca not Ah. so on a 1100 cca batery you would only have about 55 Ah.  Thats not so good aaaa.

Is it possible these are from a D8 bulldozer? If they are in pairs, and they are 12V each, I "think" Caterpillar diesels often use a 24V starter. Just a thought...

yea, my bus has a 24v starter but you could also use them separately.

  Yes they may have bin out something that big. I hooked them up

to my 12 v system they work great and voltage holding very well.

Probably they are "8D" batteries. Which, by odd chance, some D8 Caterpillar tractors have/had.


Batteries normally start with the number of the 'group', then a suffix for further identification. As I remember, the 8D weighs about 170 pounds - teh next smaller, the 4D, weighs about 125 pounds.

  Yes you are wright they are 8D's and ytes they are very heavy.
