Water Miser Battery Caps
« on: May 14, 2009, 12:42:46 PM »
Hi

I'm considering installing Water Miser Battery Caps on my Trojan T-105 batteries. A quick google search of the board didn't find anything.

So, the question to the learned company is:

Do they work?

Are they worth the money?

I'm aware of Hydrocaps, but there is no room for them above the batteries on my boat, and they're quite a lot more expensive.

Owen;

I got a set of those "used" with my pallet jack battery setup. They seem to work as claimed at least over the whole 4 months or so I have had that bank set up.

One "gotcha" is my tester needed an added bit of tube to reach the fluid due to the added height of the new caps compared to the originals.

You can check out the system over here:

And the caps here:

I got these for cheap for like $25 for 12. A bit stained / used looking but they do seem to help recombine the gases that are driven off from hard charging.

Again only about 4 months on them but I would add them again as a matter of course. The flip top is easy for checking levels and SG, too. Nearly worth it just for that.

la7qz,

For that price have you considered:

Flow-Rite Qwik-Fill On-Board Battery Watering System:

p;mr:referralID=NA

First place I found them on the web, look around maybe a better price.

Available for golf cart batteries and many other shapes. Price varies a lot.

No pump needed, gravity feed is fine.

Have fun,

Scott.

I got something like those, but for my forklift batteries, called Aquamatic from Hawker/Varta. They're really comfortable to use; no mess at all, just connect a watertank and let gravity do the job; each cell have own shutoff valve.

Wrote a story regarding those batteries...

Hi all

I went ahead and ordered the Water Miser battery caps. The automatic watering systems look a bit too cumbersome for a yacht installation.
