My little water system
« on: July 17, 2006, 06:31:45 PM »
I created this water system and hot shower  for the camper.   It sits on a site with a 20 amp 120 service.  No water.

This provides water and hot showers.  All total cost less than $40.

I got a 15 gallon plastic barrel for an air tank.

I got a used 40 gallon water heater.

I got a used oil filled electric space heater.  The one that looks like an old style radiator.

I got an inflatable dingy pump.

I used all garden hose for connections.

System is:  (outrside,,Air tank> Waterheater>)inside,, electric heater. garden hose to spray nossel.

Water line attaches to drain valve on bottom or WH.  2 3/4 hose bibs screw in the top 2 3/4 npt fittings. air tank hooks to top.

Radiator heater was drilled and drained.   Hydrolic oil.  Then 2 1/2 npt nipples were added.   One at top and one at bottom.   Hole drilled to accept nipple.. 2 big washers were epoxyed over the nipples for strenth.

How it works.

Charge with water.   Place a 55 plastic barrel in truck and get water.   Then transfer to HWH.  Once full,  pump it up with the dingy pump to 10 psi.

For hot shower,

The heater is pluged in for 10 minutes at 900 watts.

This is enough for a nice hot shower..1-2 gallons.

40 gallons is enough for 4-5 days.

Depending on a 20 120 service is no fun.

Trie a windmill,or solar waterheater or solar panels

Or a grasshopper driven turbine.

That's what this site is about.

cheers,
