In 1976-82 the Trimblemill - a contra rotating wind turbine designed for individual building heating - hot water or "block heater" storage - used sail wing blades of aerofoil shape, a canvas/sailcloth envelope stretched over an aluminium frame with a plastic tip stiffner.
