What Size Coil Wire to Start With? [Duplicate LOCKED]
« on: August 03, 2009, 09:12:16 PM »
I am building a Grid-Tied only 17' turbine to the Otherpower's new 17' specs.  I live in the midwest with a AWS of 13mph @ 100' height that the turbine will be. I'm using 18" Rotors, 3x1.5x.75 N42 Magnets, 16 on each rotor.  I'll have an approx 1"  air gap between rotors.

I'm just trying to figure out what size coil wire to start with for a high voltage stator unit, does anyone have any experience with winding the coils on this size unit for the Power-One inverter, non-islanding, Startup voltage is 50 Vdc and a max of 590 Vdc.   I'm wondering wire size and # of turns, if anyone knows the approx values to keep be from buying lots of wire.

Thanks for the help anyone can give.

Thanks,

Rob
