Radiator Fan Blade?
« on: June 24, 2004, 07:42:34 PM »
Finally found the multi blade fan from the Ford Explorer that I had stashed away years ago. Will mate that with a small 40V servo motor with the hope of getting about 1A @12V out of it.  Looks like if I mount the blades backwards it has a decent profile.  Everything is free so it is worth a try.  Just have to turn down a shaft bushing to mount it on.

Yes I used a 7 blade fan from a Chrysler V8 I added extensions of aproximatly 8" to each blade, all worked fine on a TDM.

I then removed the blades and replaced them with 500mm long 2" wide PVC intended as cover strips for fibro cement sheets, also works fine to this day.

regards Allan

If money is a problem then you qught to consider making blades from PVC pipe.

Here are some plans...

Hope I don't have to extend them

Although it is only 18 inches, it has 10 blades and is so cute.  My manager once told me, "The optics of a project is everything."  I have five days to whip this together before I go to the camp.  Prefer to have five small ones rather than one big one.

All i have ever made props from (HAWT) is fans from cars. There cheap and work very well so i found although i must point out that i have never carved a prop from wood so i cannot comment on comparison. See the wind links on my site. http://homepage.ntlworld.com/s.amesbury/homepage.htm
