« on: July 15, 2004, 02:10:23 PM »
This is my 1st atemp at building a Yaw with Furling frame for my TDM genny

info was from Hugh Book (Brake Drum Windmill) and adaptation for TDM (tape drive motor).

More to come as progress prevails

Looks like nice work, how does the TDM mount to it?

The plan is as of now to use an Adaptor plate made by Randy Burmeister of www.randysworkshop.com that mount on the front of the TDM then using the outer holes of the mount attach it to the yaw. So the TDM is in between.

humm...  Furl arm is 45 deg. from motor plate and 27 deg tilt with 10 deg of tail into the wind.

might be camera position to. makes her look a litte off.

I'm sure it will work just fine, but having the "axle" for the tail pivot butt-welded like that without any bracing probably wouldn't last long on a larger machine.

Nice welds though! ;-)

P.S. The Axle is solid steel 1" not pipe.

Thanks for the insight, on the next one for

the Ametek 99 I'll try bringing the Axle down and use

a 20 deg. as shown in your picture.

This one I have now will work for the little Ametek 30
