Need Help Identifying this generator
« on: July 30, 2004, 11:52:03 PM »
I'm trying to find a good, prebuilt 3/4 to 1 1/2 horsepower generator.

I cant seem to figure out what exactly would be the best; a servo, stepper motor, an AC servo or DC Servo. etc etc...

I've got a few ametek servos off ebay but their power output is fairly low.

I'm not afraid to purchase new but I cant seem to figure out what works best.

A very nice person on the board posted alink which was very inspiring and I'm trying to figure out exactly what type of motor he is using as a generator.

In the first couple pictures he states that it is a 3/4 hp generator. Where in the world would I find something like that! I've searched google but havent come close, all I get is regular old gas powered generators.

Do you think its a stepper motor or a servo or ????

I just picked up this but I'm not sure if its what I need or if its even worth anything :P

I looked in the Granger book. It looks like a air conditioner motor . There are over 200 pages of motors in the catalog. good luck.

If I ever figure out what's in the box then maybe I can think outside of it.

Your name please !!

You could use a brushless DC motor as a generator, I have some.

The output would the about 1.1 KW peak power.

It would produce around 1 watt per RPM

I am attaching photos for your perusal

The photo shows a specially made generator for his design.

That looks like a Fisher & Paykel smart drive motor. I've got one coming from my local distributor here in Australia. Wish it would hurry up & get here.
