Magnetwire - what type
« on: November 23, 2004, 05:29:39 PM »
I do not have readily available sources for magnet wire and being in Canada does not make it possible to order from the guys here at otherpower. So here is a webpage with different ytpes of magnet wire could some one be so kind as to point out the one to buy. I would want to choose some exotic wire that costs a fortune.

thanks

hi reno.....i can help...i just got a roll from them today..if you order today it will be in tomorrow.....the size of wire depends on the machine you want to build but what i have been told is to buy "#14 magnet wire" the "red" stuff, and they will know what to give you.......dan on here recommends #11 but the place you want to order from only has that in an 80 lb roll so i don't think you want that...the other stuff is about 10 lbs.what dan does is uses two wires of # 14 together to make a coil and that will emmulate a #11 wire. He has had good success with it and if you read his posts on 10,12 and 14" wind genny's you can go by that...on the top of my roll it says ALC^TEL..below that it says 14 then HMT PA-200  MW 35C......hope that helps....have a good one...pickster

Thanks pickster. 80 lbs that might get me one coil. Ok to dream.

10 lbs sound good should leave me room to do some test coils.
