A thirty-six inch dual rotor alternator based on the rear axle of a semi-truck. A big brother to my 12 footer.

I have a textfile on my desktop...its there all the time

I start to post something on the board...every

couple of sentences I highlight and copy paste

it in the textfile, just like I almost lost this one

just now, had I not done this, very good habit to acquire.

I have a similar method for sanding down the

edges of my wood hubs that I make for my

windmills etc. only I use the belt sander. It is fun!

I think I'll go out and make a couple more

hubs.

Thats pretty good, grind em nice and round, true and smooth, probably well balanced also.

Only thing you did wrong was you did not have a gennie mounted on the other side to power it :)

Or would that be "OVER Grindity"?

Good job.

That is pretty insane looking. Anyone know how much power something that big could put out with some good magnets? How many, and how many coils(of what size?) too?

Hopefully 10 KW with 60 2x2x.5 magnets and eighty pounds of #12 wire.

I have been working on something similar myself - though I'm just collecting bits at this stage. I am hoping to make an alt based on a the hub/axle from the trailer of a log truck. http://www.anotherpower.com/gallery/Log-Trailer-Hub I'm going for a radial flux alt using 24 rows of 3 2" diameter microwave mags (3/4" diameter X 3/8" thick neos filling in the holes) mounted on the outside of the 18.5" diameter brake drum. I plan to make up a laminated 3 phase stator to be mounted on the outside of the drum, retaining the brake mechanism on the inside. I realise that ceramic mags are not the best, but hey, that is what I have. I will be happy to get 5kW. I will cut down my 3.6m helicopter blades to suit the alt I come up with. I will follow your progress closely. Good luck!

Looks like with that trailer you could build a field of windmills!
