Stronger Magnet Better for Hugh's 10 Coil Stator?
« on: March 21, 2005, 03:43:56 AM »
Just wondering if stronger magnets are better

or should I stay  exactly with Hugh's plan?

Which by the way is 10 coils 80 trns #15

What would happen if I used the stronger wedge

shape magnet ?

Also Just finished my stator and the casting is about

11/16 thick, how much will this affect the

performance ?

Thanks; JerryD

To gain from the bigger magnets you will have to change everything, it's a complete re design.

To use without modification you will have to space the rotors much more to keep the flux the same. This may need more spacers than is really desirable. It will cost a lot more to get the same result.

Hi Jerry - larger magnets in this machine will lower the cutin speed, which you probably dont want.

Well have 1" x 2" blocks back in stock next week I think.

The 11/16" stator wont hurt you too much...

If I ever figure out what's in the box then maybe I can think outside of it.
