motor find
« on: April 08, 2005, 09:45:03 PM »
Here is a motor I found that seems to work pretty good for 12v charging.

4 ceramic magnets and 8 brushes. I never saw one like this before. So I got all he had of them. 4 in all.

I have tried 1 out with a 8' rotor but, I still need to find the right match for this motor. It seemed hard to start with the 3 blade set but, once it gets going it gets to it's max amp rating quickly. I don't need a lot of speed but more torque. Maybe wider blades or more of them.  It's a good thing I like carving blades.

How many wires coming out of that motor? Is it possible to rewire it for 1 set of brushes for less drag? You might get in touch with Zubbly and ask him as he has done a lot of motors.

Just 2 coming out. It looks like 4 of the brushes are paralleled to the other 4 brushes for more current handling ability. I thought it might get easier to start  after it gets a little wear on those brushes, kinda like getting them broken in.  The beauty of a pm motor though, you can motor it if the wind is just about right and then it will go on its own.

I grew up in Warren, 1 street over from Market!

Strange.

I don't know anything about the motor.
