first results from new turbine
« on: August 19, 2009, 04:57:29 PM »
got some wind today betweem 15 and 25 mph according to the local weather station. i got a new battery for my anemometer but need to calibrate it again when i find the instructions! i am getting around 200 300 watts. my doc wattson said 15 amps peak but now it  seems to have died so back to the analog ammeter. i tried adding some line resistance but this didnt make a lot of differance,so i opened up the gap a bit and that did make a differance. i am going to make a rpm counter from a bicycle computer so with that and the  anenometer i should have  more useful information. i think maybe the tsr is a bit low for the design. i used hughs 10 foot design, so might make a new set using hughs plans. i am happy with it so far as i wanted to  err on the side of caution after my  last 2 failures anyway. have yet to see at what wind speed it furls at. i have made a new longer tail again using hughs plans.
