3MW turbine in scotland blown up - video

I captured it from the Discovery Science channel half an hour ago on my digital camera. I should mention the sound is very very quiet so you might not be able to hear it.

Seems almost a shame to waste the tower and all, but I guess they can't put a new turbine on top of the old tower since its probably all engineered together.  It was an old 2 blader, I bet it had vibration issues.  Rich

Apparently it was mechanical failure that they couldn't repair, so they were taking it down in favour of two smaller more efficient models.
