Hi everyone!
First of all, I hope you will understand my english and I apologise in advance if you not...
I have been reading posts on this forum for months and in the same time i have started to build a wind generator using your experience and ideas.
at this moment i have finished the metal work and the blades and before glueing the magnets and winding the coils some advice will be verry apreciated.
my project is an axial flux generator (hope I got this right
dual rotor and the steel disks are 250mm (10") diameter, 8mm thick (i understood here that the thicker, the better, less flux leack).
The propeler is 2,7m (9') diameter-3 blades.
Unlike most of you people use 2"x1"x.5" magnet blocks, all I could get is 40x20x10 mm,but at least i have plenty of them. this is the reason i went for 10" not 12" diameter steel rotors.
I was hoping to compensate the size of my neos by increasing the number of poles and go for 16 poles instead of 12 but when I tested the allignment of my magnets on the disc i realised they are too close to each other at the bottom side and i'm not sure if this will affect the performance.
Now the question(s):
Should i go for 16 poles/12coils or stick to 12/9coils?
Can you recomend the size of coils( number of turns and wire thicknes)?
I'm aiming for a 12V machine
The machine will be mounted on the top of a 40 meters tall building with fair wind most of the time.
Tha!nk you , any help will be much appreciated!
PS Iwill post some pics as soon as I learn how to resize them....
