SW-403 mods underway.
« on: December 14, 2006, 03:27:13 AM »
I hope to wind test it sunday? we'll see how it compairs to the stock version.

This is back side of blade hub

front of blade hub.

away shot

I added a larger tail. The small tail wouldn't offer much direction control.

I'll be testing this 48 volt genny at 24 volts.

You know I 've always thought that pvc would make a good core for laminate fiberglass

I'll do a tsr one with a buildup on the root for more lift and fiberglass for stress and weather proofing .And one set with   Aluminum flashing bonded to instead of fiberglass  . That's the only issue with Pvc that the UV gets to it as a core It's head and sholders above any other core for shaping .I like this mod I know it's going to make more power.

Hello Jerry.

Yes, please keep us posted on your observations on your Jerry blades on the Air-X.

I have seen many used Air-X's for sale on E-Bay due to noise and low performance.

Perhaps these modifications will make the Air-X a viable low wattage type genny.

I have a 48 volt UPS battery bank that is on float with grid power and would love to have a decent low wattage wind turbine for battery bank float use.

Thanks, Art.

Hi Lawrence.

My 403 is a 48 volt unit. Because my blades are desinged for much more tourque and lower rpm I will now be useing this 48 volt genny for 24 volt charging.

Its worthless at 48 volts. However if I use it with the original blades it will act as though it is just shorted out. My blades will have enough tourque to overcome this sudo short condition.
