WIRING WIND TURBINES IN SERIES OR PARALLEL
« on: August 05, 2007, 12:06:24 PM »

I wanted to know if we would connect the output from two  3 phase Permanent Magnet Generators (wind turbines), either of equal or different voltage and amperage, in series or parallel, to increase the voltage or amperage respectively.

If so, does it have to be after the bridge rectifier or before it (straight after the alternator where 3 phase A/C is produced)?

Does this type of wiring could have any drawbacks or expected problems?

Thanks, Usman.

Usman: you really need to start combining these story posts into one instead of dumping several related stories on the board at once. Not to mention every question you have asked to date is easily found with a search because they have been asked many times before. AND STOP WITH THE CAPITAL LETTERS IN THE TITLES

This has come up before, yes you can wire wind turbines in series but quite frankly it is completely crazy and should never be considered except at the toy level.

To do it at all you would need to rectify each and add the dc volts. There is no way to contemplate connecting individual alternators in series as ac devices with different frequency and phasing.
