Windy
« on: January 31, 2009, 07:03:04 PM »
My little PVC mill on a twelve foot PVC pole withstood a 100km wind last night. I expected to find it in pieces in the back yard this morning, but all is well and my solar panels are fine too. The danged storm was so powerful that it made the house vibrate and I was waiting for some structural damage, but it seems to have survived too.

Hey sounds exactly like what crashed into my house, too.  Irricana, Alberta.

At first I thought it was a plane flying low!

The mill was pinned in furl and still cranking 10 amps.

I was halfway through posting a message on Fieldlines here when I ran out to check on things.  When I came back the power blinked off, so whatever I was typing evaporated.  It was 12:15 when it hit me, how about you guys?

No one believes the theory except the one who developed it. Everyone believes the experiment except the one who ran it.

No, it's just a small (tiny) mill in my suburban back yard.

Hard to pin down exact time, but I know we were seeing gusts up to

90K at 9:30.  At 10:30 the TV started to  wink out.  This is typical

with dish wobbles.  At about 11:30 heard a crash on the roof, but was

half asleep and didn't check it out till next morning.

Sounds like the timing is close though.

Turbine was tied down(for other reasons) so a missed opportunity.
