Thanks, the problem here is finding things here, you need to know a the correct search word from the posting to find the info. If your a Newbe, you don't know.

True, but you still need the correct search word, then you get some postings that are incorrect or old tech, and you get the problem with up/down link. You get the same posting at different comment points. FAQ are a good Idea, but they are lacking. I wonder how many Newbies are feed that Line "GO and READ", that are just turned off and never come back?

Hami

P.S. there are 393 listings for Blade speed on Google and 339 for prop speed. Go and read?

Perhaps we need a new section where people new to the field could ask questions without fear of being torn to shreds, OH wait a minute, one was and it was called NEWBIES. OK maybe what we need is for the grumpy ones to stay away from NEWBIES.

Or maybe an email address where people could submit questions away from the board, it is not easy with Google or search the board to find information.

If there was a certain protocol for key words in the introduction then it would become easier. I understand the board exists for discussion on certain topics and the owners can call the shots but at times it is unfriendly at times.

end rant

Allan;

I thought I had?

[until this]

I do agree its a tough nut to crack for new folks. When I want to find out something I put a fair bit of effort into it before I ask any questions in forums. Doesn't always yield the info immediately but the searching for info kicks up related information that can actually help a newbie understand the overall process so they don't build a 60 foot prop for an ametek. If you see my point? I hear complaints regularly from folks trying to answer a question posted by digging out more info and the original poster never responds. The knowledge is free so a bit of personal effort should not be viewed as a hardship. It at least shows the poster is sincerely interested.

Because it came up..

Oh, I love this, maybe a list of words and there meanings for the newbies and Grumbies alike so we have a standard, this would be a big help in searches? Also a list of standards, formulas, and beliefs so none of us have to search for common things? Add it to the FAQ'S

"No Pain, No Gain" I prefer my pain at the Gym, Not while learning my Hobbies.

I have tried to start some useful conversation to get some info and this is what I got below.

I understand this posting started in Wind and has move to Rants, sorry about that.

"If he has done searches he will have found he can buy just what he wants from the owners of this site, from bits and pieces, to a kit of bits to put together, to a finished unit, and I am sure he could find someone to errect his mast and set it all up."

If I wanted a kit, I would have got a kit! I'm building it with my own two hands!!

"Many people on here have spent hours of time and large sums of money and learned volumes. I have the utmost respect for those people they have done something that so far I havn't I bought a kit, I have proven I don't have a good wind site, but I still intend to build a PMA because I am interested, I want to make my own mistakes and sort them without help if I can or I can ask on here, but I will ask specific questions with a detailed problem, not a collection of open questions.

As stated on here earlier every question asked has been answered at some time. Read, Read. Read."

So let all start by remaking the wheel?

"this  guy has been hanging around here posting for six months

asking questions he could easily find with a basic search.

i think he knows more that he lets on.

this is some kind of game he's playing"

"Hanging around", Then arrest me for being a peeping Tom! Is not what this was created for?

There are lot of very bright people here, and they should be mentors, not Ego maniacs.

Again I am so sorry for ranting, but I have asked for info because I can't find or I want to discuss something and I get Ego's and some people that like to help, I just wish there more of these?

Aw shucks Tom, check the settings on RoboEd V 1.001 Rev 2.

I seem to remember that Newbies was added as an area where newbies could ask "silly" questions (there is no such question) without interrupting the smooth running of the main area, OK don't rub it in I already know my memory is failing, now where is that post button.

hamitduk,

Ya know, that would be a great idea !!

Why don't you put it together and run it by the committee and see if you can get it passed. <grin> I mean after all this IS a government/service?

Oh wait, it's not, how silly of me.

Really dood, simply read the site, if after spending enough time to understand the language and nuances you should have the where-withal to ask pertinent questions relevant to your need.

Sorry I'm adding to this string of IMHO, nonsense, but just couldn't help seeing the "Take care of me", "Fix me", "Fill MY needs" attitude of you, as I read it.

hamitduk, Put on your glasses, get a cup of coffee (whatever), close the door to your room for quiet AND READ. That's pretty much what the rest of us do.

Regards,

behoof

Hami--I usually don't get into these, but here goes.  I've followed

some of your stuff, mainly because I will always be a newbie in comparison

to some on this board.

In attempting the 10 footer, the first thing I did was to buy the book.

I like the way the Dan's put things, it must suit my personality.  But

that's me.  My point being, there are a lot of good publications out there

that help with the math, and understanding.  It also taught me some

terminology, which helps a lot when searching, which eases the frustration.

My best advice then, is to buy a book, read it.  It will help.

Most important, though, is don't give up.  Watching an ammeter climb on

your first build makes the whole process well worth it.

The first thing I thought of was "At what TSR?"

Reading the first 20 hits (and links in the hits) on either search should have supplied enough info or terms to search for something better related to the question.

Or

The same 3 - 5 - 10 people should keep retyping the same info?

Wondering about the professional expertise some newbies have, what it cost them to acquire, and the time they expend giving it away for free.

A divorce lawyer would never give any advice based on "My wife is blond".

I completely and totally expect to be included in the "Grumpy ones" category, because I am completely and totally grumpy.
