I took a digital mini tach from the hobby store (it was designed for optical tachometer readings for model airplanes) and modified it from optical to magtnetic pickup. the thing that's nice about this particular tachometer is it reads from 0 to 99999. and it's cheap at $25.00!
I have pictures, but can't figure out how to post them. they reside on my daughter's isp server.
