DIY Inverter
« on: January 22, 2006, 12:58:15 PM »
Hi,

I would like to know if anyone has a link to good, free plans for a low-cost DIY inverter. The output-voltage should be 230V~. The input may be in the range of 12-36V. It doesn't have to make a nice sine wave. (I've got some broken TVs and computer-PSUs that I can use parts of.)

Thanks,

The Crazy Noob.

(btw: this is the second time I try to post this, hope it works now)

TCN:It worked the second time probably because

you did something right?

There have been plans posted and on a Google

search you'll find how to make an inverter from

microwaves.

  Hope this helps.....

Let me get this all in focus...you want something cheap...pronounced Free...easy to make

readily available...just change a couple of wires around and presto! You have an inverter!

   Ain't going to happen....LOL

I'm just joshing with you ...

but seriously you can make a fairly hefty

inverter from a microwave if you have enough

time and ambition.

They had inverters back in the 50's that

changed 12volts to 110vac ...and that was before

transistors...they had a buzzer that hummed at

60 cycles between a dual set of points making it

alternate.....actually on car radios because

part of the radio tubes needed higher than 12

volts to operate ...somewhere around that time

and just before transistors they did come out

with radio tubes that worked on 12 volts.
