Fault with a Lister genset
« on: May 28, 2009, 06:06:32 AM »
My Lister genset sudenly stopped producing any power. It was running normaly and then the power just cut out as if a fuse had blown. All the fuses and circuit breakers are ok and all the wireing appears to be intact and ok. When its running the panel indicates 50hz but 0 voltage. It has not been placed under any extreme loads or suffered anything out of the normal. Im very isolated where I am and its a 800mile round trip for an electrition so any help would be greatly apreciated.   Cheers Dave

A bit more info about the generator would help, but many have a bridge rectifier for field current or even discrete diodes, check them. Some have a capacitor in the field circuit this can fail, fits your symptoms, if that is the case replace it with one as close to the original specs as possible. Steal one from an electric motor if necessary.
