What Is It?
« on: January 19, 2005, 08:57:53 PM »
Sorry if I posted this in the wrong section.

I saw this in a surplus auction, thought it could be a UPS of some kind.  Had a lot of trouble getting specs on it.

It described as:

POWER UNITS

RTE DC/ TEC POWER CONDITIONER

WANG POWER UNIT.

Thanks,

-Dan M

Is there anything about input, output, amps, load?

Is it heavy enough to be half full of batteries?

No specs at all.

There was one additional line in the description that said:

"STORAGE/POWER ARRAY"

and the total palletized weight was shown as 465 lbs.

It seems like it could be full of batteries, or it could just be a really big transformer (although that doesn't seem as likely)

?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

It is a UPS, most likely 220 or 440 volts input, one box is the inverter power conditioner and the other is the batteries. I have seen similar units in Wal-Marts where I have worked. I assure you that it is full of useful parts like IGBT's, rectifiers, caps, shunts, relays, fero-resonant transformers, etc.
