24 volt pm motor
« on: March 12, 2005, 01:38:48 AM »
i found a 24 volt pm motor rated at 1800 rpms 62 amps. my question is if i where to spin this with a gas engine at 1800 rpms would i get just 24 volt at 62 amps? if not what would i expect to see? if i spin it a little faster will i be able to get like 28 volts? seems like it may be useful to charge my 24 volt batteries

As long as there is nothing wrong with it, it should make a good generator.

You can spin it faster and get 28V, voltage will vary directly with speed in a PM generator. It will charge the batteries with the addition of some sort of engine speed control that will establish the correct float voltage as the batteries approach full charge and the current drops.
