Power conditioner
« on: May 05, 2005, 05:57:40 AM »
I picked up this power supply/conditioner? and connected 240vac to it and checked the output an it was 130vdc. Question can i put 24vac and get 13vdc from the transformer?

Thanks Trivo

Just off the cuff I'd say no, what you have is likely a regulated supply. Reducing the input voltage ( with out modifying) will not yield a reduced output, it will yield no output.

If it is an unregulated supply then, yes reducing the input will reduce the output.

If there are one or more large heat sinked transistors then it is probably regulated.

Trivo,

Won't be able to help you with the technical question but am intrigued because you also seem to live in Perth, WA. I am in Orange Grove, perhaps we can get together one day.

I am a F&P + PVC man meself; just happened to meet up with several interesting wind enthusiasts here in Perth.

Just managed to be given a 2000VA UPS and am playing with it. Looks like my inverter problems are solved as this would be an expensive item.

Keep in touch.

Regards,
