12 volt inverters on a 24 volt system

Can anybody see a problem with this idea. Two 12 volt inverters with the line sides in series with each other hooked up to a 24 volt sorce. and supplying seperate 115 volt loads.

I don't see how it could be perfectly 100% balanced, and it would need to be.

Not a good idea.

If that's what you're talking about, won't work.  One inverter tries to draw 200W, the other one tries to draw 1000W.  I see lots of magic smoke appearing.....

Im just thinking if the current through the series curcuit will stay the same, then with 1 drawing 200w that current will flow through the other inverter affectivly lowering its ability down to 800w, what im thinking in theroy is ill have a 500w 24v inverter when all is done. Im just not willing to blow my inverters up yet, lol.

If you connected one inverter to each 12V battery (assuming you're using 2x 12V batts in series?) it could work,IF: The loads on each inverter were equal(to keep the batteries loaded equally),and the 120V circuits were completely isolated from eachother,and probably isolated from earth/safety ground too,atleast for one of the two 120V circuits/inverters.But that also depends on the way the inverter is grounded..If the 120V side ground is completely isolated from the 12V input negative terminal,it should be fine..But,If the 120V ground and 12V neg. terminals are connected together(inside the inverter),that would be a (smokey) problem,for atleast one inverter.

(It would cause a ground potential difference of ~12V,since the ground of the inverter connected to the "top" battery would actually be floating ~12V(= "bottom" batt.voltage) above true earth/safety ground.
