Windvane and anemometer placement question

I'm trying to determine the best place to mount my anemometer and wind vane for my generate such that the propwash wont effect it.

Is there a standard position they should be placed? how far above or below the prop.

I'm thinking anywhere thats ahead of the prop a few feet should be ok?

 On my Genny the meter is 6 inches below the

tip of the blades , seams to work fine.
