"Ideal" Diode
« on: July 27, 2008, 06:34:59 AM »
Here's something that you guys might be interested in.It's an article about a new "ideal diode" using MOSFET's for much less loss than a Schottky diode!

http://www.linearaudio.nl/Miscellaneous/ideal%20diode-2.pdf

The voltage and current ratings look kind of low,but apparently they have some that you can use external MOSFET's with for higher current handling.Might be interesting for 12V systems.

This is just a prepackaged solution to an incredibly common method for pairing a diode with a FET.

Google "synchronous rectification" and you will see what I mean.
