Solar and wind
« on: September 16, 2008, 06:12:53 PM »
Is it possible to combind one or more wind generators with a grid-tie solar setup.
I am installing 9 170w pannels in one string with either a PVP2000 or a PVP3000 inverter made by PV Powered.  I haven't ordered the inverter yet so depending on the answer here will determine which inverter I will buy.

A little more info.  I was told that in order to for the wind generator to be in parallel with the solar string it would have to produce almost identical volatage as the solar string.  How is it possible to make this happen?

you would need a separate grid tie inverter for the wind turbine like the windy boy ext. unless you went with a battery system were all the solar and wind turbines charged the batteries and the inverter hooked to the batteries sold to the grid at a preset voltage... then you could use one large grid tie inverter but even then 2 mite be better.....
