wind charge controllers
« on: November 10, 2008, 04:27:43 AM »
Hi gang . I was wondering if a charge controller rated at 30 amps could handle a pma that is designed to go no higher than 15 amps @ 1200 rpms? it reaches 12 volts @ 150 rpm, and the voltage reaches ,1200 rpms. I ask because I have one, and would like to use it, I would like some opinions from those who are more experienced than I Thanks

Moved to Controls since it is about a controller. Be smart to disclose full details like make and model of controller, too, if you want to avoid 20 questions on exactly what you have.

The "rated at 30 amps" makes me think it is a solar controller.

If so, it will blow up if used with a windmill.

You can't.

You need a totally different type of controller.

Dump / diversion / shunt type is kind for windmills.

Use Ghurd's controller. You have to build it--cool.

They are very very reasonably priced. You can get one at ghurd.info
