Could one of these:

operate a relay, or the electronic device of your choice, to short the windings on a homebrew 10 turbine? AND Is that something I really want to do? If it wasn't set carefully it could maybe cause problems.  Is it worth almost 200 bux to be able to do this?

why would you want to do this? if  your turbine is designed well with properly set furling and well balanced blades this device is redundant. if your turbine NEEDS something like this it will self destruct if/when it goes wrong. to answer your question i would say no you dont need it imho.

Almost the last thing a windmill should be subjected to is automatic and resetting shorting based purely on wind speed.

Shorting is physically and electrically violent.


I can not think of any reason that device would be necessary or desirable, for anything at all.


Maybe a Star/IRP (formerly known as Star/Jerry) switch, but there has to be a simpler method.  And cheaper.

Looks like the total is closer to $250. ("Note: Requires a Vortex Wind Sensor")


Interesting the power supply is grid.
