Hi Norm,

 I noticed the 2x's pictures.

In order to get the forum to post inline pic's (the kind you put text after), we have to install like 3 mods. But it can be done with this forum. Until thats done the pictures will show at the bottom of the post., unless there linked to from a url. You will notice pictures, from the old board carried over, and look good. This is not the case with new posts however...

I will outline with the other admins, as to when we can impliment. Were working hard to maintain 100% "uptime", as the oportunitys, arise we will have these new features installed. There's lots of folks who volunteer there time making this happen, please be patient.

Okay.....Thanks JW if I had known that I could have just commented on the pics.
I can work around that....Hey thanks for being patient with Me.
So I'll just comment on the pics right from here.
First pic shows cutting cups in half exactly  in half.
2nd and 3rd pic ....clamping together with alligator clips and hot gluing
them together....they are glued together can be done very neatly by
pushing the nozzle into the joint ,instead of dragging, as I discovered
just recently.
4th shows soda straws split lengthwise and hot glued to the edge of
one cup. I eventually done this to all of the 60 cup edges. Quiet
easy once I got the hang of it. ( My goal is to make it able to withstand
at least a 30 mph wind.
5th shows CDs marked 72 degrees for gluing the cups.
Masonite (clip boards) disk will be secured to top and bottom.
I was going to stagger each stack of cups but have decided to line them
all up for ease of construction.....they look better that way anyhow

and here almost finished except for the tower and hooking up the stepper
motor on top.

Norm,

We have fixed the picture function and can now do inline pictures, this is why users have to click on the links to see your pictures now. So in the future you can post pics, in the text area, just select insert image.

Web based didn't work for you Tom?

I'm not sure what "fix" they made but inserting an image still seems to work.

Testing my own picture, stored on my ISP's server. I see it in preview, but it's in my cache. TomW, what are you talking about?

Hi Tom,

I wonder what the difference is between how your inserting your picture, and how Zap is doing it.

It is possible that when the mod was installed, it automatically changed some setting. I would preffer you can continue your usual method and not have to do that a different way.

Is all else fails the mod is very easy to get rid of. It would be nice if we could have both.

The first thing I would suspect is that Zap is useing a different html to embed his pictures. The question then becomes whats different and how is that code generated (is a toolbar button used etc.)

Your mention of resizeing does give me a clue. Im going to uninstall one of the mods here, and will post after thats done, here in this thread. Then, try to post a picture again, and lets see if it works the way your using.

JW, I used  the "Insert Hyperlink" button available when posting and used the url from the picture stored on this server.
I think all my uploaded pictures are 640x48 or smaller so no resize was needed.

Well, between the time I posted this and the following comments the issues I encountered were fixed. Always glad to give VF a chance to tell me I am a nutcase ::)

Seems usable now.

Hi Norm,

Were working up a "how to" on inserting pictures, I have a program that will do screen shots, this should make it easier for folks to figure this out.

There are to ways to get images to show "in" a post.

 1. upload them to the board and insert into the text area. Images no longer appear under posts, however the link to them should remain, so they are accessable that way (under post).

 2. Attaching pictures using a url from a remote server. I am less familar with this method.

To attach pictures uploaded to the board works as follows-

Hit >Additional options >browse> [insert Attachment 1] at this point you should see "attachment 1" in the text area of your reply. To attach more hit > (more attachments) and then you will see [insert attachment 2] browse again and repeat and so on. When you see the text [ Attachment Invalid Or Does Not Exist ]   or [ Attachment Invalid Or Does Not Exist ] thats where the image will be placed in the text area. Its an html tag so be carfull not to alter it, or your picture wont show.

Okay I think I'm getting the hang of it....
[ Attachment Invalid Or Does Not Exist ]
this is where I attach the alligator clamps then glue with hot glue
once you get the knack of using a glue gun you'll wonder how you
ever got along without one.....but they do have their limitations....
[ Attachment Invalid Or Does Not Exist ]
then gluing the inside also practically an invisible seam
No, Tom you can't have the scissors back why don't you
get another pair ? they only cost a $1

Norm,

 I see the problem.

Dont use the tools above the text area. (when your typing the reply/topic) Instead, look to the lower left of the text area for,
"Additional Options"...

Hit that, you will then see the part of the "posting control panel"(as its called) there you will see "browse" and [Insert Attachment].... Its at the bottom part of the screen.

What your doing is creating a link to your hard drive, and not a remote url, thats why it wont work until you find the "additional options" button, and post like you did with the attachments showing under the post, this works the same way except you can embed the picture in the text area instead of under the post...

Instead of a cute granddaughter this one should be a VAWT that was posted on old board.

Plus this line should show up under the pic

OKAY;
The way I'm doing this in a Windows XP environment seems to work easy enough.
Biggest difference is on old board when previewing you could see the pic while working on the post.
Here when using Windows XP and FireFox 3.6.3 preview will show only that there the attachment in []'s should show up.
First thing I do is click on browse, find my pic on my computer , click on open, this puts the address of it in the ATTACH area.
Then click on "[insert Attachment 1]" just to right of "BROWSE" button. That then puts the """=1 on the line.
You can then type under it or even over it
 or add more attachments

This should be a schematic of a Ghurd Stepper, but don't tell him I kept it :)

I do miss the ability to "see" the pics as they are inserted for a post. BUT change ups keeps the mind alive right  ???
Screen shots are pesky little things for me, HIPPA, FDA and all kinda of RED tape are things I have to be careful with.
Before I ask about submitting how-tos I want to try uploading using a Linux distro, probably my fav Vector's SOHO

Oops 1 more thing to make sure you're getting different images up here instead of the same image, make sure the attachment thingy increments numbers, so after doing the attachment of 1st pic make sure and chose more attachments after first one shows up.
