Combining 2 charge controller output?
« on: June 01, 2010, 11:26:01 AM »
I got a question for the board at large......I have a Sunforce 30A charge controller and was wondering if I can combine another of the same (with different set of panels) to the same battery bank (12V-3750AH) without blowing anything up?  Right now, just a question...........tommorrow, maybe reality....appreciate the info...........Bill    ???

That is fine.

Just keep the panels on one seperate from the other.

Appreciate that Mr. ghurd....I was out watching my amps meter this morning (had to use backup again last night) and was thinking about if I could add another charging circuit with no fear of fire 'n stuff.......thankyou......Bill   ;D

I've regularly had two or three controllers feeding my small battery in the past, but have kept the panels entirely separate electrically as G says.

BTW, if you were/are using MPPT and your sets of panels have different shading or orientation, then you'd likely get better output by having a separate controller for each string.

Hi

I have my wind turbine controller output and solar controllers paralleled at the battery fuse, as I meter them separately I have to add the outputs in my head for the charge rate, ie 4A from the solar and 9A from the wind = 13A in total.

As the others say make sure the only common wiring is after the diodes.....
