Wire Question????
« on: July 25, 2010, 08:36:01 PM »
Greetings, If a PMA is constructed using 5 amp wire, what is the max amps you can expect generate?  I sure there are a lot of variables, I am just looking for ball park figure. Thanks for any help received.

Actually there isn't any such thing as 5 amp wire.  Wire ratings are more about "this thickness of wire under these conditions can safely carry about 5 amps continuously without melting or getting hot enough to ruin the insulation around it."

The maximum amps you can generate from a generator may be much higher than the amount that the wire (actually its insulation) can withstand for more than a few seconds or minutes due to heating from its own resistance.

I'm not trying to be sarcastic but the question doesn't lend itself to an answer.
