I'm a net exporter of electricity to the grid (we generate with our grid-tied PV about twice what we consume over a year), but we import from the natural gas grid, making us roughly zero-carbon...  B^>

100% on grid now,

by this time next year i hope to be 100% offgrid, at least electrically
and will not have any connection to city water, gas, or sewer.

i will still have ties to the diesel pump however, and propane will be my choice
for cooking and backup heat.

i can't wait!

Still tied to Nat Gas, Power.  Nat Gas will probably never change.  Three years left in Power contract, so I need
to get moving to change that.  But, I just finished last summers job list. :-[

In a process of setting up Solar PV's, and still working on Wind, the goal is by next year June, i would like to move 50% off grid.

Hats off B529, ginger48

Howdy
21 years @ the cabin.  No grid, don't want it if I could get it.

I make more power than I use and love every minute of making
my own power.  I spend more and more time there now and every
thing works just like in the city ( 2 weeks @ a time sometimes).

When the wind blows and the sun shines I'm in trouble and have
to shut one or the other down or do some welding or turn on the
hot tub or microwave water or what ever else I can shed some amps.

Winter is better I can use the heat way up in the snow.  But I sure love it.

i thought i was one step closer to my offgrid dream, until the well driller hit chert/bedrock
at 73" and the hole is drier than the salt flats in august.

one step forward and now a couple steps back, we are going to try once more in another location, however
i think it is a waste of time.

so now i am looking into pumping 10k gallons after each rainfall from my pond into a diy water treatment plant.

probably be better off in the long run.
