...one was taken out of service before it failed,
the other is new in the box,
it's a new return of one that did blow

Heheh, wow,
I thought I was pretty clear about what I wanted...

I am seeking a blown out "AccurateTools" / "ATSIU" Inverter please.

@Fabricator,
I sure hope you didn't throw yours out yet !   <Hopes>

I thought you had a blown out one still,
I must have missed the post saying you got it replaced.

No, I just want a dead one to start with,
if it aint dead yet, there is no use for it
as it doesn't have the information needed
about the failure you spoke of earlier.

They are easy enough to find in China,
I'll share what I have if you want it.

But wow, you totally took my question wrong fella.

I don't give a flying leap if you trash them in this forum,
or any other, I just like the stackable aspect, and the price.

It seems the real sticking point is what you described here:

OK folks, DO NOT USE THESE INVERTERS, they are total junk,
they have one time ground fault protection,
one ground fault and the inverter is smoked,
the 120 volt versions don't even have that...

And no, I don't work for them.

If I was trying to defend them,
would I have posted this a while ago ?
http://fieldlines.com/board/index.php/topic,144949.msg982095.html#msg982095

And if you had read the above correctly,
you'd have seen I'm retired, I work for ME...

Please re-read what I asked for above,
and stop trashing me instead, OK ?

I'm sorry you misunderstood me on this.

And $500 for all three is a real tempting offer for sure,
but I need to see a failed one first to judge for myself...

Thanks,
CompuTutor

Yeah, well things aren't always the way they seem on the intraweb, when a guy with two posts states he has access to the company in china and wants to help them fix their inverters for free, Most people would tend to be very suspicious.

I guess that makes sense,
all I had to do was Google:
ATSIU 2500P

I found this much about
the eBay guy AND China
in a few hours total time...

I'll post a copy of my text file I made so far,
and a couple emails I've received so far.

I have nothing to hide here,
I just wanted a burned out inverter...

Wasn't worth a penny to the donor anymore,
and will prove a good project for me refine it.

thought about decaffe ?

Well that is pretty damned impressive, I'll bet if you get in contact with the guy at accurate tools you could get him to ship you a smoked one, I'll guarantee he don't ship em back to China and he's got at least four that I know of, probably more like four hundred.
That would surely seem like some kind of E Bay violation, the actual designer of the product admits they are not right and need more work, yet they still sell em every day.

Yeah, I have to agree on that point about selling known defect stuff.

And once again,
sorry for the misunderstanding about asking for the dead one.

Do you, or anyone else reading
know the first name of DrSwartz's son
that sells these on eBay (DMSSGS) please ?

Seems to me I remember somewhere that
ChrisOlson called him for you or something,
perhaps he knows his first name maybe (?)

With that, I'll just call the veterenarian's office,
and ask how to get ahold of him that way I guess...

Thanks,

I corresponded with him a lot on the smoked units, if I left a message on the www.serious-sounds.com website on the contact us page he always responded from his blackberry, the daines st address is the address on the shipping label on the unopened one I have, the phone number on the label is 248-642-6144.

Thank you for clarification on this.

Yeah,
thats dad's Veterenarian's office number
on that shipping label of yours,
and thats the office address too...

I'll give him a jingle next week
(When daddy's office is open)
and ask what happens to those dead ducks.

Thanks for your help getting a sample,
I still maintain that the basic idea of
stackable inverters has good merit.

and at this price, a little re-work on the design,
and hopefully some cooperation from the maker
might yield an acceptable product for applications
that have a low danger factor like well pump motors,
and things that have switching supplies anyway like PC's.

I agree with others here too,
put top-dollar on the one running sensitive electronics,
and make a comprimise for motors and expendable stuff.

Do we need a top of the line inverter for a can opener?

That is why I originally jumped on these things, the stackability, but unless they can meet the requirements of the NEC, that the chassis ground be bonded to the neutral inside the inverter they are worthless for residential use, unless you don't mind electrocuting family members or living in a smoking hole in the ground.
and a word to the wise newb lose the chip on your shoulder and try to play nice with long time members, it'll make your life here easier, you might be somebody in the world, but on this board your just another newb.

Compu,
The joke really wasn't pointed towards you personally.... but now it is big boy...often times members have bright ideas and concepts then someone with a low...very low.... post count comes in here trying to rip-off another person's ideas in here for some kind of personal agenda/marketing scheme. There are a lot of very bright people in this forum who don't mind sharing ideas freely, but when YOU came in here with some kind of cryptic message wanting an inverter...what did you expect...a hug?

Many times folks with very bright ideas in this forum are met with fly by night shysters

As a person who makes assumptions about IQ's, just answer me this riddle, MR retired ENGINEER, if you had plainly explained what your motives were and explained it fully, would not have received a better response???

But no, you went a different route, you roared in here trying to impress someone other than yourself! As of right now, you're flat lining on the friendship meter, but hey what I know my IQ is right in there with your social skills.
Likewise, no one was really impressed by your Google stalking abilities...it really doesn't make people want to warm up to you anyway.

So Google me away, once you locate me then step up to the plate and come and pay me a visit

Good luck

Oh now I see where you editied your comment about a "low IQ" you're a real class act..one moment its there, next its not.

Fabricator was right,
so I edited it out.

I was offended by the inplication,
but that was wrong of me to say.

And I posted that text file to show
I didn't work for the company,
I was LOOKING for the company...

Come on guys... LOL

This is turning into another skewed thread.

If I'm correct in what I gather from all of this, lemme bust out some semi-quasi-pseudo-legalese for the sake of posterity . . .

1 - Looks like the major point here is that the inverters looked like a good way to go, but turned out to have a fatal flaw (quite literally), and don't work for the purpose intended when this thread was started. It's a shame this information wasn't known sooner, like before the money was spent on them. The bright side reveals that the information is available from now forward.

2 - Compu wants a dead one to play with to see if it's a reasonable task to revise the design to alleviate the flaw. Doesn't sound unreasonable, provided any terms in acquiring said 'mortalized' inverter are agreed upon by both parties involved, should an exchange of goods take place.

. . . If I'm right, then what's the point in arguing this? The points have been made.

Urine droplet concentration wars are a fact of life, but I don't see the point in this particular scenario where it's worth getting into anything over. Any chance we can just dust off the egos and move on here? :)

Steve

PS - Compu - the forum automatically word-wraps to the next line when you're typing... any chance you can let it do it's job? Sometimes the pages in here can get long enough as it is; pressing enter at the end of each line on your screen only frustrates those of us with wider displays by making the pages excessively long... Thanks.

The size of the project matters not.
How much magic smoke it contains does !
