Greetings, 1K at what RPM? I have been working on new approach. I stack the stators and rotors on a central spinning axis. As a proof of concept I used two old stators that are wired using the traditional 3phase layout and then connected them to form a 3phase, 6 coils per phase configuration. The fabrication technique does not require a welder and glue is not required to hold the magnets on the rotor. Another benefit is that it requires less magnets.  The link below logs the work I have doing on this project.  What I find interesting is that I could easily double the magnet size and improve the coils to achieve better output results. This project has mainly focused on showing that the idea does work and to develop and alternative fabrication technique.

aka...that's a good question

Go Vertical..........I like your design,...but couldn't you gain by putting another set of coils ,  top and bottom ,with a laminated core...

It seems to me that in most of the designs,...the back side of the mag rotor is wasted....I know you need a path for the magnetic circut,.............why not not let the path include going through a coil........sorry just thinking out loud..........artv

Yes, I am working on that as well.  The two stator design was just to show the concept does work.

What is a laminated core?

A laminated core is a "core made up of sheets of magnetic material insulated from one another by an oxide or varnish." :)

Greetings, where is the laminated placed? Are there photos or drawings that illustrate how it used?

The green part is the laminated core, made from many really thin (0.36mm) pieces of steel...

I don't see how they'd be useful in an alternator but that may be ignorance on my part. ;)
