amps calculation help
« on: April 26, 2011, 03:12:39 AM »
Hello everyone!
I want to know about the output of my turbine with following ingredients.

•   I have one plate of 12 n40 magnets 2in long 1 in width and 1/2in thick and second plate of my magnets are 2in long 1 in width and 1/4in thick.(how much this effect my efficiency?)
•   18# wire with 128 turns per coil. (All you people recommend any gauge of wire for higher amps)
•   3 phase 9 coils with star configuration.
•   I want to make 14 volt for my 12 volt battery.(14 for make a good difference for current to go inside the battery)
•   I want to make it for 20 to 25 amps.
•   I am going to use this alternator as a pedal generator.
•   How long it will take to charge 125AH battery with 50% efficiency.
•   What should I do if you people suggest me 24 or 48 volt instead of 12volts?
•   I have a 1000 watt inverter 12 volt to 220 volts.
I want suggestion from all of you expert people and those who done this ever. My plane is to increase amps standing at 12 volt battery.

Assuming a human driven pedgen it is hard to push more than 100 watts continously, so at 12V u can aim for max of 8 Amps..given that ur generator configuration will be ok at about 200 RPM (this is very approximate though and best verified using a test coil.

Hello,

I think for a pedal generator it is possible to generate 500 Watts + without problems, sure not during hours... depending on your application, but if it is intended for a static sport bike break, you should make P max up to 750 Watts aprox.

Best regards,
Daniel
