I think that is a good thought for me to bow out of this thread with Steve, we'll keep at it...

i like the idea of a  teetering hinge in a downwind machine .....Thinairs second pic shows it well ...with just one prop it seems more tantalizing possible  than trying to do it with two or three.....to many linkages ?

in a downwind machine it seems very interesting ....if i,m thinking right the counter weights solve the static balance problem....the teetering aspect solves the dynamic balance ?

Those "big" german single blades turbines that were mentioned came up when material and production prices were verry high. The amount of money saved on having only one blade was quit a lot. I know these turbines. There used to be 6 or 7 of them around here and now there are only 2 of them left. They did have problems with bearings and maintenace costs seemed to be too high so they were replaced. The two ones left I hardly ever see doing something :-(

But if they work, it definitively drives you crazy watching it :-D Those 2 machines have about 150 KW each. For small turbines I dont get the technical point of using one blade only but it definitively is one of those things that makes fun ;-)

Apart from sharing the downwind, stall regulated approach our turbine is very different to the Skystream, but I think anyone who is thinking about designing a small wind turbine to be an appliance like product should look at that machine as a benchmark.

I assume you are referring to the SWWP 3.7 down wind version.

I could have sworn there were a couple of videos for this.

Someone get over-zealous with the delete button again? :(

Well the one bladed thing sounds very fun, and a problem that needs to be be solved for an issue that doesnt exist (in a two or three blade design) as some have pointed out. But then again maybe the fella gots something here, but its hard to tell as it all sorta sounds like advertizement, and not just good hearted info. Im with Dan, show us the performance of this pupy and then talk of added benefits might make more sense.

OK so from all this input here are my options. Try to make it work as a single blade ( sounds like more trouble then its worth). Build and exact twin or twins (na still sounds like too much trouble). Just keep it buried were it is and forget it for now. I think I'll go for the last solution for now. It is a nice blade though.
