His name is not Ludens, but Manfred Mornhinweg. Homo ludens = playing man, which he exactly embodies.
Have stumbled upon his site quite a few times over the years, always spending the better part of an evening reading his various projects. Still plan to build his FODtrack antenna tracker. And was impressed at the time by his 40A switching power supply.
Not too long ago I read this horror story of his Chinese inverter:
http://ludens.cl/Electron/chinverter/chinverter.htmlImpressive story. Some of those design/build errors gave me the shivers - much scarier than any horror movie.... And he actually tried to remedy most of the faults... seems a bit like beating a dead horse, would've been simpler and quicker to just design and build an entire new inverter from scratch. Anyway, that story is the reason I don't start using stuff I just bought until I've opened it up and had a chance to inspect it for myself. And yes, I have so far caught two errors that way - one of which was a metal screw poking through 220V wiring in a floodlight for outside mounting. The screw was happily alive....
His site is definitively an interesting one!
