Interesting to see the wheels turn, thanks for the update.
Retail is tough (I ran an early small ISP, and I am hoping to sell several hundred million smart radiator valves in the near future), and one of the reasons it's tough is that to do it well you have to be open and honest with customers and do without gagging or unannounced lock-in or deafening silence or broken tech. And that's hard.
As I said, I was unimpressed by my interactions with SMA given that I have a fair amount of their gear, and given what you say, esp the 60Hz jump, I'd have even less confidence in them to deliver a working system and be fair with me.
