I've been working for a company near Raleigh,NC ,USA on some solar light towers. I've been wondering if there's a niche market for retractable towers? The towers they build you have an option of hand crank or 24VDC winch power to raise and lower them. They collapse into themselves sort of like an "old school car antenna." They use a cable system that when one cable is operated it'll send the entire stack up at one time until fully extended up to around 25-30 feet. They also have the LED lights on them and also an optional Air40 wind turbine on the same mast. I've watched the guys over in that section build them and the parts they get it from the company that builds the sub assemblies looks repeatable here at home with a little bit of work. It's just an idea I'm kicking around. I may try to build a tower like they use to see what it would cost and work. They have some previous versions they no longer use I may try to buy one of those at a "deal" if I can. I figured I throw this out and see what people think.
