Report KD 651 about water pumping available
« on: September 10, 2018, 08:54:17 AM »
The new report KD 651 can be copied for free from my website: www.kdwindturbines.nl at the menu KD-reports. The title of this report is: "Calculations executed for the 4-bladed rotor of the VIRYA-3.6L2 windmill (lambda design = 2, galvanised steel blades) with a Polycord transmission in between the rotor shaft and the vertical shaft to drive a rotating positive displacement pump".

In this report I describe a new method of pumping water for irrigation when the water is pumped from a river or a lake to a reservoir positioned about six meter above the water level. Although the designed rotor has only four blades, the starting torque coefficient is large enough to drive a pump with a constant torque like most positive displacement pumps have and still have a sufficient low starting wind speed.
