Power jack wattage query
« on: November 08, 2021, 12:23:41 PM »
The power jack 2021 new design LF inverter for example the 20,000watt one that is rated for 10,000watt continuously at 220v.
when using the inverter in split phase mode which allows the use of 220volts at 10,000watt.
Is it that i will be limited to a max of 5,000watt on each of the phases?
SO in essence my 220volts equipment(s) can pull a max of 10,000watt which would be divided into 2 between L1 and L2.
So basically i would be drawing a max of 5000watt on L1 & L2 at the same time if I a using 220vac at the max 10,000watt?

In my experience the power ratings for the powerjack inverters are a bit optimistic.

Don't know about your specific model but I have a 240v single phase that's a few years old, rated 8000W continuous/32000W surge.
Had to open the case up a bit to let heat out, it was shutting down running a 3600W kiln. Just manages it now but runs pretty hot.

Despite this I am happy with it for the price.

I suspect you're right, each phase will be running either side of a centre tap so half the total power per side.
