WTB. Inverter 10 KW
« on: April 05, 2022, 04:21:48 PM »
I have a 18 year old Bergey excel with the xantrex BWT-10240.  Inverter getting worn.   LCD display gone.  Louder “clunk”. When it engages.  After a line-side trip it sometimes takes 2-3 try’s on the reset button or sometimes I switch breaker on/off.  I am just wondering what might need replacing?  Would like to keep it going especially now in our windy season!

Electrolytic capacitors in the inverter would be my first suspect if it is over 6-8 years old. Since it is "on" 24/7/365 they have a lot of hours on them! Look for bulging, stains on the circuit board underneath them... the louder clunk makes me think they are pulling more current so out of spec...

Shine a light onto the LCD display, if you still see the data displayed just the backlight is out and it might be replaceable...
