Un magnetised ferrite rings
« on: November 06, 2023, 12:29:06 PM »
Might be a stupid question but I was given some un magnetised ferrite rings and was wondering if they would be any better as a backing plate than a steel disc ? Many thanks.

The magnetic resistance of magnets is about the same as for air and so very high. So if you use similar material as used for magnets but then non magitised it will also have a high magnetic resistance and it will certainly be much higher than for non saturated iron.

Those are meant for transformer windings or for wrapping wires around for noise control on the electrical lines... depends on the size and material, ferrites come in a wide variety of materials...

Looks way to big for a speaker magnet...

toroidal transformer core maybe...

Thanks for the link, they are speaker magnets, from magdev was thinking of using them as the plate to stick my 2 inch neo magnets onto,

what I was thinking is, tile saw...

If you cut a section, wedge recheck the poles.
